📓 Trimester 3 Portfolio 📝

Hey everybody! In this post, I’m going to be showing you my best work from this trimester, the third and final one of the year. I hope you find this interesting and enjoy it, too!

Language Arts:

In language arts, I’m most proud of all of the IXL tests that we have taken. In the third trimester, I don’t think I have gotten below a 98 on any of them. I’m proud because not many people did well on those tests. They also raised my grade a lot. We had about only fifteen minutes to finish each of them, and if you weren’t satisfied with your score, you had to give up some or all of your recess to raise your grade, but I never had to do that because I always finished 😊.

This is my score for IXL R.3.

This is my score for IXL M.4.

This is my score for IXL Y.8.

This is my score for IXL AA.9.

Math:

From math class, I’m most proud of my sequencing test we just took. I am proud of it because I am one of the two people who got a really good grade on that test. Everyone else got A-‘s, B’s, C’s, or below. I got an A (98% to be exact)! I wasn’t confident at all for this test. I thought I didn’t know the concept very well, but apparently, I did. I got one wrong out of 48, which I think is really good.

Check out my math test here.

Science:

My best piece of work from science class in the third trimester is the assignment called Drawing Parts of an Atom. I am proud of it because it took a lot of time to understand and I got 100% on it. We had to figure out how many protons, neutrons, and electrons in a specific atom. We had to draw the element using different colors. It was really hard and confusing when I first started learning about atoms, but I got the hang after a while.

These are the directions.

These are the atoms I drew.

These are more atoms I drew.

Social Studies:

In social studies, I am most proud of my telescope presentation. We all had to create a slideshow on an invention that was invented during the Renaissance, and I chose the telescope. I chose it because I am interested in astronomy. Learn about telescopes in my slideshow here. I didn’t make the background plain, boring white. I =made it filled with stars! I think I got 100% on that, too which is really good.

Art:

For art, I am most proud of my abstract art painting that we recently did. We had to do a painting that included dots. Our teacher said that the original kind of art had a lot of snakes, so I painted a snake out of dots! I am proud of it because it turned out really good at the end. I also like all of the colors I put in it. The abstract line patterns that I drew with sharpie turned out pretty cool, too.  I incorporated ombre dot patterns to make it more interesting.

This my abstract art painting.

Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed reading about my best work from trimester three! See you in my next post! (If I ever write another one :))

🎉 SBC Week 10 – Reflect and Celebrate 🎉

Hey everybody! This week is the last week of the Student Blogging Challenge. As the title says, we have to reflect and celebrate. I will be auditing my blog. I hope you enjoy!

Over the course of the Student Blogging Challenge, I have participated in all ten weeks. I have also written a total of twelve posts during SBC. The post I enjoyed writing about the most is the one called Baisan. I like writing that post because it was a free choice so I could write about whatever I wanted. I wanted to write about an exciting event, so I chose Baisan. I love telling people about my experiences, so that’s why I liked writing that post. I received five comments. There were some from HMS people and some from non-HMS people. One of the web tools I used to show the creativity of my blog was an emoji generator. It was the easiest one to work with. All I had to do was look up what I want, and the things that related to it the most popped up. I pressed on it, and then, copy and pasted it into the post. My plan for my blog now is to keep posting weekly or more often until the school year is over. (It’s almost over 😢)

Kally’s thoughts about my blog:

When Kally first saw my blog, she thought that it is really cute with all of the emojis and flowers. What caught her attention was my cute style with the flowers and the pictures I chose for the background and header images. Kally’s favorite post was the post called ♥️ Three Places I Would Love to Visit ♥️ because she liked how I listed why I wanted to go to that specific place. She also liked all of the pictures I chose. She even said they were beautiful. What distracted on my blog were all of the pictures. She said she couldn’t stop looking at them. A suggestion that she made for my blog is to make my tagline bigger, so it is easier to read.

Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed it! It has been fun doing SBC this year. I will miss it when I leave.

hmskira’s blog:

I recommend Kira’s blog because of a bunch of reasons. First of all, she has amazing content. She also participates in the Student Blogging Challenge. She also writes about gymnastics, stationery, and her life. I find her blog interesting because I do gymnastics, and I also like stationery. If you like those things too, this blog is perfect for you. You can learn from her blog, too. She wrote a post about the U.S.A. When you read her blog, you will be amazed at how nice it is. ♥️ Three Places I Would LOVE to Visit ♥️

Hello everybody! In this post, I am going to write about the three places I would like to visit the most. I hope you enjoy!

🌸 Japan 🌸

Japan is the place I want to go to the most. I have never gone there before. My friends always go there, so they make me want to go, too. My cousins also go a lot because my uncle works at Hawaiian Airlines, so the flight is free. They always bring us back really cute things. I want to go and see all of the cute shops and stores, but it costs a lot of money to go, so we haven’t gone there yet (YET). I also want to go on the Bullet Train. I heard it is really fast, too.

Here are some other reasons I would like to go to Japan:

  • The pictures I see are all very beautiful.
  • They sell and have so many cute things there.
  • Their clothes are so cute, and I want to buy some.
  • Japanese food is so good.

🥐 Paris 🥖

I want to go to Paris mostly because I want to see the Eiffel Tower. I want to go all the way to the top of it. None of my friends have gone, so I have no idea what it’s like there. I only have seen movies that were filmed there. It seems really calm and peaceful there. There is also a lot of really, really cute and fancy desserts there, like croissants and macarons. I especially want to try the macarons there because they just look so cute. When I think of Paris I think of little cafes with coffee and little pastries. Yummy!

♦️ South Korea ♦️

The number one reason I want to go to Korea is because of K-Pop. I want to meet all of the groups, like BTS and BLACKPINK. The specific place in Korea I want to visit is Seoul because all of the K-Pop groups are there. I heard they also have pretty good food there, too. One food that I always hear about is Bibimbap. It is a traditional Korean dish that consists of an egg, vegetables, meat, and rice. It seems delicious. I also want to try other foods and desserts there.

If you want to visit any of these places you can get tickets here and here.

Thank you so much for reading this post! I hope you enjoyed because I enjoyed writing it. See you in my next post! Bye!

SBC Week 7 – Baisan

Hello everybody! In this free post, I’m going to write about Baisan. It is basically something my family does every year. We go to my grandparents’, my great grandparents’, and my mom’s uncle’s graves and go to lunch after. I hope you enjoy reading about it! Here is a link to the place we went to.

Every year, my family bring flowers to put in the vases at the graveyard. My uncle brings the food, and my auntie and her family bring tea and alcohol to pour on the grass next to the graves. They also bring money to burn. When we got to my grandparent’s grave, we decorated it with candles, food, and incense. After that, we bow. We also had to rinse it. We also had to rinse the vase and put the flowers inside of it.

This is what you have to do:

  1. The first thing you have to do is bow three times.
  2. Then, you have to walk up to the mini cups with tea and alcohol in them.
  3. You first pour the one with tea.
  4. Then, you pour the alcohol one.
  5. Lastly, you refill the cups.

Before we burned the money, we had to find a stick to mix it around, so my cousins went searching for one. They found one behind the fence, but they didn’t know how to get to it. Then, they found a hole in the fence, so they went through to grab it. After that, we burned money. I think it was very hard to do because it is really, really hot. After we were done, we were done, we cleaned up and moved onto my great grandparents’ grave.

The grave is at the same place as the other one, but it is somewhere else, so we had to drive there. When we got there, we decorated it the same way. When we went to wash off the vase, my auntie spotted a baby chick that looked like it just hatched. It was all alone, and we felt so bad for it, so my auntie picked it up, put it in a hat, and tried to look for its mom. We found a black chicken with chicks following it, so we decided to go to see if it belonged to them. My auntie put it down in front of them, but they didn’t seem to like it. The mom grabbed it by the neck and was swinging it around. My auntie scared them away and picked the chick up again. It looked injured, so she just kept it with her. We bowed and burned the money again. When we were about to leave, my uncle said he would not allow her to bring the chick into the van, so she had to let it go. She was really sad, and so was I.

Just so you know, there was a happy ending. My auntie went back to check on it because she felt so bad for it. She had left the hat there, and saw that it was empty. Then, she saw a group of black chickens. With them, she saw a yellow chick, so she knew that it was the same one with the same group of chicks. They had finally excepted her. Now, back to the story!

This is the chick we found.

The last grave we went to was my mom’s uncle’s grave. We only leave flowers for him, though.

After we finish, we went to eat in China Town. The restaurant we went to is called Legends Seafood Restaurant. We ate dim sum there. It was pretty good. My favorite thing to eat there is the egg tart.  You can visit their website here.

Thank you for reading this post! I hope you enjoyed it! See you in my next one! BYE!!!

TXT:

  • CROWN
  • Our Summer

First of all, TXT is BTS’s brother group, so how can I not love them. They have a Unique and different style from BTS, though. I like CROWN and Our Summer because they are both really catchy songs.

SBC Week 5 – My School Day & Special Events @ HMS

Hello fellow edubloggers! I can’t believe that this week is already the fifth week of the Student Blogging Challenge! The task is to write about your school. I’m going to write about my usual Wednesday at school, and special events at HMS. Hope you enjoy!

My Usual Wednesday:

First of all, there are seven periods in a day (not including recesses and lunch). Also there are different classes everyday, and the class orders are different everyday, too. We never have the same schedule in a week.

I get to school everyday because my parents drive me there. When I get to school, I wait with my friends until it is 7:45 am because that’s when school starts! It also ends at 2:45 pm everyday. When my teacher opens the classroom door, and we go in, take attendance, and say the Pledge of Allegiance and the Golden Chain of Love. Then, we go over announcements. That is homeroom. When it is 7:55 am, we go to our first class, which starts at 8:00 am. Usually on Wednesdays, we have science class first. It is from 8:00 – 8:45 am. After that, we have social studies. That class lasts from 8:50 – 9:35 am. Our third class of the day is life skills, and that is from 9:40 – 10:25 am. All of the first three classes are 45 minutes long.

After that, we have recess. That is from 10:25 – 10:40 am. We usually just eat snacks, look at our devices, and talk to each other during recess. After recess, we have math class. All of the middle periods are shorter than the other ones. Math is from 10:45 – 11:25 am. After that, we have my favorite resource class, art. I like art because it lets me be creative. It is from 11:30 am – 12:10 pm. Next, we have recess again. Then, we have lunch in the cafeteria. Recess is from 12:10 – 12:25 pm, and lunch is from 12:25 – 12:45 pm.

The last two periods of the day are the longest. Our second to the last class of the day is Japanese. It lasts from 12:50 –  1:45 pm. Our last and final class is language arts, and it is from 1:50 – 2:45 pm.  On Wednesdays after school, I usually stay and do homework until my mom comes to pick me up for gymnastics practice.

Special Events at HMS:

We have many school events, so I’m not sure if I’m going to be able to talk about all.

Her are all of the events I can think of right now.

  1. Winter Program, Spring Program, May Day, and Undoukai
  2. Field Day
  3. Field Trips and Sleepovers
  4. Track Meet
  5. Learning Showcase
  6. Study Tours
  7. Fun Fair

Winter Program, Spring Program, May Day, and Undoukai are ways of showcasing singing, dancing, instrument playing, and more. We have Winter Program every year before winter break, but the other three alternate. In the Winter Program we usually sing or play instruments to Christmas songs because it is coming up. We perform it for our parents. The Spring Program is basically the same, but it is in the spring, and we don’t sing Christmas related songs. On May Day, we learn hula dances as a class and perform it for parents. There is a queen and king, and there are also princes and princesses from each grade. Those who are chosen are part of the royal court. They also perform. Undoukai is a Japanese themed event. This year is the first one, so I’m not really sure how it’s going to go.

Field Day is an event we have every year. The whole school goes to Ala Moana Beach park, and we do a bunch of activities like relay races. We rotate through A LOT of things. We even go to the beach and eat shave ice. We eat lunch there, too. Field day is one of the most fun days of the year!

Field trips are also really fun to go on. We go to a bunch of different places for part of the day. We usually don’t eat lunch there, though. Sleepovers are super, super fun. In second grade, we got to sleepover at the school on the second to the last day of school, so when we woke up, it was the last day. In third grade, we also had sleepover, but it was at Sea Life Park this time. It was also very exciting.

Track Meet is an event that only the middle school and fifth grade participate in. We have to sign up for a running event and three field events. Our grade didn’t go last year because we were on the ECST (I’ll talk about tit later), so I still don’t know what it is like, but it is next week Thursday, so I’ll find out soon! We compete against other schools and even get ribbons, too.

Learning Showcase is something the school does to showcase the work they do. All of the parents are invited. Even parents that are not HMS parents can come because they might want to send their child there. Each grade shows a different thing.

There are three Study Tours in all you go on. One is in fourth grade. It is the Big Island Study Tour. (BIST) You go to the Big Island/Hawaii. Another study tour you go on is the East Coast Study Tour. (ECST) You go to New York, Virginia, Washington D.C., Boston, and Philadelphia. The last and final place you go to is Japan. (JST) You go to Japan, obviously, but I’m not sure where you go in Japan because I haven’t gone on the JST yet.

The Fun Fair is something we do every year. Each grade works at a different booth. There are many different things we do. Some of them are food, tattoos, basketball, archery, and fish catching. Anyone is aloud to go. You have to buy scripts. You can’t pay for anything with regular money. Everyone has a lot of fun there.

Thank you for reading I know it was a long post, but I hope you enjoyed reading. See you in my next post!

💐 My Spring Break 💐

Hello everybody! In this weekly update, I’m going to write about my spring break. Hope you enjoy! 🙂

🌸   🌸   🌸   🌸   🌸   🌸   🌸   🌸   🌸   🌸   🌸   🌸   🌸   🌸   🌸   🌸   🌸   🌸   🌸   🌸   🌸   🌸   🌸   🌸   🌸   🌸   🌸

On the first day of spring break, Monday, my grandparents were here visiting from Maui. It was their last day on Oahu, and my parents were working, so my grandma and grandpa watched me for the day. For breakfast we went to IHop. I ate pancakes with strawberries and bananas. I also ate bacon, eggs, and hash brown. It was really good. After that, we had to go to Bed, Bath, and Beyond to buy kitchen mats. Then, we went home and stayed there until I had to get ready for gymnastics practice. I was sad because I didn’t want to say good bye to them. I also went to sleep really late.

Tuesday was basically my only free day without practice. Only my dad was watching me because my mom had to work that day. My dad woke me up at about 9:30 a.m. because he was hungry. For breakfast, I think we went to Jack in the Box. They just renovated, so it was nice to see it. After that, we went home and I just watched YouTube and played with my dog until my brother and my dad left for his swimming practice. I didn’t want to go, so I watched Ralph Breaks the Internet while I waited for my mom to get home. We had rented the movie that day. After I ate dinner, I went to sleep really late again.

On Wednesday, my mom stayed home with us, but she was working, so we didn’t leave the house. I don’t think I did anything except look at my phone and maybe do a little homework. I had practice that day, too, so we had to get ready at about 3:00 p.m. because most of my practices start at 4:00 p.m.

Thursday was basically the same as Wednesday. My mom stayed home with my brother and I while my dad worked. I also did nothing. At the same time, I got ready for gym, and of course I went to bed at like 1:00 a.m👍.

Friday was the day I was looking forward to because I had nothing, and both of my parents were working. It was just my brother and I at home. It turned out I did have something. I found out on Thursday that we would actually have practice because we had a meet the next day. My mom came home at about 1:30 p.m., so she could pick me up. She also brought home Subway, which was delicious. I got a turkey and cheese sandwich. Yum! Practice went pretty well. I was ready for my meet the next day.

Saturday was the meet day. I’m happy that I didn’t have to wake up that early because I am not a morning person. The meet was at Moanalua High School. Our first event was vault. I don’t usually get high scores on vault. I got an 8.675. Bars was next. I think I did pretty well because I didn’t fall on anything. My clear hip was a little weird though. I got a 9.175. Our next event was beam and I didn’t fall again. I was first, too. I got a 9.175, the same as bars. Our fourth and final event was floor. The meet was going pretty well, and floor made it worse. I went out of bounds on my layout. I got an 8.75. All around I got 5th place. I stayed to watch the rest of the sessions. My mom was also working. We stayed until about 8:30 p.m.

📷 Proper Photo Attribution 👍

Hello everyone! In this post, I’m going to be telling you how you get three different photos from three different places and how you attribute them correctly. I hope you enjoy!

  1. Compfight

DaPuglet Flickr via Compfight cc

  1. I got this photo from Compfight, so you have to go there first.
  2. After you have gotten there, you can search whatever picture you are looking for. You can only use the photos that are under the dotted line, unless you pay for it.
  3. Once you have found your image, you click on it and look at the three steps on the side of the photo.
  4. Step three has the HTML, so all you have to do is copy and paste it into the caption when you insert the photo into your blog.

2. Google Search

  1. You have to search the photo on Google, and go to Images.
  2. Next, you have to press Tools. It is located right under the search bar. It is also next to Settings.
  3. After that, you press Usage rights, which is will pop up underneath when you click on Tools.
  4. A box will pop up, and you can click on Labeled for reuse.
  5. Once you have done that, you can choose from any of those photos.
  6. Then, you have to download the image and insert it into your post.
  7. For the caption, you write <a href=”the url for the photo”>Via Google Images</a>, and that should create a link for the photo.

3. Your own photo

My friends and I took this photo of our Starbucks drinks when we went out.

  1. The first thing you have to do is download the photo if it’s not already in your folder.
  2. Once you have done that, you can insert it into the post.
  3. For the caption, you write what it is and that you took the photo, so you get credited.

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you learned something. See you in my next post!

✏️My Best Work From Trimester 2📚

In this post, I’m going to talk about my best work of the second trimester. There will be links, and there, you can find my actual work.

Language Arts:

I chose to do my book talk because I got a pretty good grade on it. I think it showed that I know how to research and find different information about books well. It was also kind of fun because I got to talk about one of my favorite books “Making the Cut.” I got a pretty good on it, too. I learned a lot from this, and it was a brand new experience for me because I haven’t done a book talk before.

This is the book “Making the Cut.”

Math:

For math, I chose to show my percents project. This slide show shows that I know how to use percents in real life. It demonstrates that I know how to calculate and convert percents, too. It also shows that I know how to create a slideshow. I got a decent grade on it, so I thought it was worth sharing. I think it was really fun, but it was a challenge at the same time because I had to create ten different slides explaining different ways we use percents in real life. Overall, I think it was a good experience and I learned a lot from it.

Science:

For this project we, had to make a roller coaster out of 12 feet of pool noodles that have been cut in half. We had to drop a marble from the top, and it had to stay on the track the entire time. We had to meet certain requirements, too. There had to be two hills, one loop, and no gaps. We had to work with a partner for this project. It was a success because we completed the assignment on time. That shows that I can work with other people well. It also shows that I can turn in assignments in on time. I think building this roller coaster was one of the most fun projects we’ve done this trimester, but it was also very hard.

This is the roller coaster we built.

Social Studies:

For social studies, I chose to show my Ancient China project on the Grand Canal for many reasons. First of all, it shows that I can do research on a topic pretty well. It also shows that I know how to use grammar and punctuation correctly. I chose it because I worked very hard on it by doing the research, typing it out, and making it look presentable. I’m also pretty proud of it, and I got a good grade on it, too. It was a good learning experience, and I learned a lot about the Grand Canal and Ancient China.

Art:

I painted this picture for art class. It was for this Beauty of Hawaii contest. I chose to show it because I am very proud of it, and I think it turned out really beautiful. I painted a very colorful hummingbird that is drinking the nectar from the flower. I also painted a sky and some trees in the background. I worked very hard on this painting. I think it took me about a month to finish. I think it was the biggest project we did this trimester for art class. I’ve always loved painting and art, so this was very fun for me. I learned some things about watercolors, too.

This is my Beauty of Hawaii watercolor painting.

Thank you so much for reading! I worked very hard on all of these projects, so I hope you enjoyed reading about them! See you in my next post!
